License Terms

These terms describe how licensing works across every paid Ventana Tools product. A product’s own Terms of Service may add product-specific detail, but each one follows the same model below.

Lifetime license

When you buy a Ventana product, you pay once and own it. Your license is perpetual for the current major version of that product on the platform you bought it for. For example, a Feather 1.0 license covers every 1.x release at no additional cost. There are no subscriptions and no recurring fees.

Future major versions

Future major versions (for example, a hypothetical Product 2) are separate products and are not included in your current license. If we release a new major version, it is yours to evaluate and purchase on its own.

Each platform is licensed separately

Our products are sold per platform. A desktop license covers the desktop app; a mobile purchase covers that mobile app.

There is one deliberate exception. If you own Feather for Windows, you can unlock Feather for Android or Feather for iOS at no additional charge by verifying the email address you bought it with. It does not use up a desktop device seat, and it lasts as long as the purchase behind it stays valid. It extends the license you already hold rather than creating a second one you could pass on.

Where you buy, and who sells it

Where you buy decides who the seller is, whose terms cover the transaction, and who handles a refund.

Whichever it is, Ventana never receives or stores your payment details. Sales tax or VAT is handled by the seller and shown at checkout in your own currency. Family Sharing is not enabled for our in-app purchases on either mobile store, so each account holds its own.

Free trial and refunds

Every paid product includes a 14-day free trial with full functionality, so you have time to explore it to the fullest before you commit. When the trial ends your documents stay readable: opening, viewing, searching, and copying keep working, and only the features that write are put away until you unlock it. On iOS the trial is taken as a free item in the App Store, which is how Apple asks a pay-once app to offer one; it counts against your Apple Account, so reinstalling does not hand you another 14 days.

Because you can evaluate the complete product for free before buying:

• Purchases through us (Lemon Squeezy): we do not offer refunds.
• Purchases through Google Play follow Google Play’s refund policy rather than ours. Ask for those through your Google Play account.
• Purchases through the App Store are handled by Apple under its own refund process. Ask for those through Apple’s Report a Problem or your Apple Account.

We honor any refund a store issues. When a purchase is refunded or revoked, the license it paid for ends and the app returns to its trial or read-only state; nothing you have written is deleted. Nothing here limits the rights you have under the consumer protection laws where you live.

License tiers

Desktop licenses come in tiers:

• Individual: use on up to 2 personal devices tied to one license key.
• Enterprise: works like an Individual license, with a custom number of seats and discounted, volume-based pricing for teams and organizations. Contact us for a quote.

Mobile purchases have no tiers and no seat count. The purchase belongs to the account that made it, under the store’s own rules.

Activation and management

Desktop. Licenses are issued and managed through Lemon Squeezy. Activation requires an internet connection, and products periodically re-validate the license in the background. You can deactivate a device to free up a seat, and you can manage your licenses and orders anytime from the License page.

Mobile. There is no license key and nothing to activate. The store — Google Play on Android, the App Store on iOS — confirms your purchase on the device, and Restore purchase re-checks it after a reinstall. If you unlock with a desktop purchase instead, you verify its email address with a six-digit code; the unlock is then stored on the device, works offline, and is re-checked periodically. It is removed only if that check reports the purchase revoked — being offline, or an outage on our side or the store’s, never locks you out.

Acceptable use

Your license is for your own use under the tier you purchased. Do not share keys publicly, resell or sublicense them, or attempt to circumvent the trial, activation, purchase verification, or licensing mechanisms. Verification codes are single-use and meant for the person who owns the purchase.
